Soap: Catie's Bubbles LPV
Brush: Ploccitane
Razor: Gillette pre-war Tech + Weber Classic handle
Blade: Feather (1)
Post-shave: SC Integrity ASB

Nice shave. Not sure if the Feather blade is necessarily better than the PolSilvers I had been using. Time will tell.

Wee Scot
Body Shop Macca Root
GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip
GEM SS (2)

Second shave with the GEM blade in the Bullet Tip always gives me a BBS shave without trying or doing anything extra to achieve it. Personally I don't ever aim for a shave this close but it's nice when it happens. I know I've had it for years now and shouldn't be surprised at this but it's a great looking razor.

Pre-Shave: Occams pre-shave soap, cold water
Razor: Muhle R41
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Brush: Plisson Synthetic
Soap: Stirling Bay Rum
Post-shave: Alum, Morrocan Organic Argan Oil, Stirling Vetiver alcohol free Witch Hazel

Second shave with the R41 and today I used and extreme steep angle (handle almost parallel to my face). The blade works again - and that's the most important part for me :D

Great shave, only 2 micro weepers (again gone straight away after a splash of water) and: ONLY NEEDED 3 PASSES!

Was it comfortable: actually not too bad, it is certainly very effective and I do have zero irritations

Biggest problem for me: ZAMAC :(

Nice one mate. I also find that the handle needs to be perpendicular to the face with the Beast.

I have never had a normal Hoffritz, but the Hoffrtitz travel is nothing like the 37c - maybe current owners like @Lifes a Peach could chime in here - but while the travel slant is one of the smoothest and most effective razors I have tried so far, the 37c was only harsh, yet not so effective for me.

@borked The Hofftriz travel slant and the 37C are different. The travel slant is smaller, lighter, thinner handle and the blade gap is different. Whereas the standard Hoffritz slant and 37C are same.

Both the 37C and travel slant work fine for me. The 37C is slightly easier to use - same size and weight as my 34C (same everything with the exception of the slanted head design). Years of using the 34C has made for an easy transition. The travel slant is a gorgeous razor but its smaller size and my lack of practice (only use it when I travel and every 3rd day when I'm on hols) makes it trickier to use. I'm going to use it as my daily shave for the next week and report back.

Add your thoughts on the RRSS to the others on the RRSS Review thread.
It'd be interesting to hear your thoughts...

My 2 cents - The RRSS is milder (tiny blade gap) and smoother but not as close. It's narrower angle tolerance is a pain, although this can be improved with practice. The bulky head design is no good for shaving under the nose (any tips you can pass on in this regard @alfredus ) ?

I'm not alfredus obviously but my two cents worth regards shaving under the nose involves using a separate razor. Although my task is a bit more delicate as I've got a mo which, after my previous highly successful 70s pornstar years, has been cut back away from the nose. I use an ABC razor for this task. I think it, or any other Gillette Old Style, is probably the most aggressive open comb out there because the razor was designed for the slightly smaller original Gillette DE blades and a modern DE blade sticks out just that little bit more. It is a bit scary but it's also got the thinnest of plate/caps and can really get in to the nooks and crannies. Also an excuse to go out and find a similar open comb razor and have two razors on the go. Twice as much fun!

Ahh, I misread that. Steep angle is a world of pain for me.

You should try SE shaving. It teaches you more about angles than you'll ever find out with DE. A steep angle generally means a less painful, safer shave but any such theory goes out the window with the R41.

I have developed my personal technique for that: stretch my moustache over my lips and then I hold the razor almost at the head - have to get the angle just right :D
Once I used the razor for a long period of time, I had it down to perfection...at first it was a pain though and I once sliced the area pretty severely :(

After I work through the handful of loan razors I have at present I will be giving SE shaving a go for the first time. I can't wait TBH as many have extolled their virtues of late.

Razor: Stealth Slant
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Brush: Mühle Silvertip
Cream: Arko
Aftershave:
Pinaud VIBR

Another great shave. I even reused a blade which I hardly ever do. Tonight I will load her up with a Feather.

Brush: SOC Cherry Badger (new, great service from P&C)
Soap: MDC Fougere
Razor: Merkur 34C
Blade: Personna Blue (2)
Post-shave: Alum

Quick two pass shave this morning. First use of the SOC brush and I am impressed. Great size brush that feels good in the hand (might become my favourite brush). MDC is a great soap and you hardly have to use any to get a good lather, the jar at this rate will last a long time.

Brush: Duke 2
Razor: Aristocrat Jnr
Blade: English Gillette Platinum
Soap: D.R. Harris Lavender
A/S: GFT Coral Skinfood

Razor: Stealth Slant
Blade: Feather
Brush: Omega 10108 S-Brush Pro
Soap: MWF
Aftershave: Agua Balsamica

Never has a Feather felt so mild. It seems impossible to injure oneself with this razor. The blade is hidden out of harms way yet it cuts like a lightsaber on steroids. It's an ingenious design. I'm teflon-smooth but my skin feels totally unviolated. The Myrsol went on with nary a hint of sting.

Speaking of which, I'm liking Mr Sol's work. Light, fresh and natural. There was a slight menthol sensation but the ingredients list says otherwise. Interesting.

I really love this Omega synthetic too. A fantastic shave.

Mastro Livi CarboInox, 6/8 Full Hollow, Barber's Notch

The more I use Mastro Livi CarboInox razors, the more I love them. Stunning razors to see, excellent shavers to use. This fascinating combination of blue carbon damascus and bronzed stainless steel is absolutely incredible to see. This particular razor has another beautiful thing to look at: scales. They are made from a beautiful bi-colored cocobolo wood, recalling - like to say - the bi-colored look of the blade. A superb shave with the super hot flame of Pinaud Club Classic, with its lovely and "old fashioned" smell, delivered a truly satisfactory shave.
