Shave of the Day 2015

Thanks to alfredus for his offer to trial this brush. Seldom do you get such an opportunity. This is a fair bit of brush compared to the Case I'm used to. (24mm to 19mm) it certainly whips up enough lather for the whole family! A little scub too due to good backbone as it's set deeper into the handle. (WD gives you this option)
I got the same brush from WD - mine's a 24mm HM knot set 5mm deeper (giving a loft between 48-50mm, in butterscotch though. Larry is a great guy to deal with and he delivers a nice brush but TBH it's not my favourite. Glad I tried it but I'll probably put it up on the BST shortly (when I get the change to take a photo and post a preamble).

Hmmm, Miller Harris Feuilles de Tabac - my wife brought back some of their cologne last year - nice stuff.

Clearly a man of immense sophistication!

Pre-Shave Musgo Spiced Citrus Oil Soap
Brush The Grooming Co Synthetic
Soap B&M Latha
Razor Gillette Super Speed
Blade La brune française Wilkinson Sword, fabriqué en Angleterre (3)
Post Shave Dickson's Original Witch Hazel & ê-Shave Orange Sandlewood After Shave Soother

The B&M Latha is so slick and smooth. When matched with the softness of the Synth it is pure pleasure to shave rather than the tedium it used to be with cartridges

How long have you had the Mongoose? Is the head width ever a problem or an advantage.
Bit of a shame about the Kai blade but I have heard that mentioned before. I presume the Feather blade is the main choice for the Mongoose? How aggressive does the Mongoose feel?

My shave today was awesome. Really SE awesome !!
Soap My latest Stearic, Tallow, Coconut recipe
Brush Omega lather produced in scuttle and applied by hand.
Razor GEM Jewel

This razor is so different to any SE I've shaved with. I do need to re jig my technique a bit because of the weight.
I am getting amazing close whisker free face after one pass. I admit to being sceptical but this razor certainly lives up to the hype. I think though if I apply the slightest amount of pressure I will pay with irritation. I have a slight neck "warmth" because I got a bit over confident. Not irritation as such just the razor letting me know I don't need to push.

I've had it a few weeks now. The head width seems strange at first, the advantage is it covers more ground in less time. The disadvantage is it might mess with your OCD!

I think the feather pro is the main choice for most, I was lucky to get a small selection of blades to try out to see what suits. It's a feather at the moment that's winning.

Pre-Shave: Occams pre-shave soap, cold water
Razor: Wolfman WR1-SB with WRH2
Blade: Voskhod (2)
Brush: Paladin Chief
Soap: Barrister & Mann Lime, Lavender & Cedarwood
Post-shave: Alum, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Stirling Vetiver alcohol free Witch Hazel

Beautiful shave today - but I think Ladas might be the slightly better choice for the Wolfman (for me at the moment that is).

Fantastic soap @Barrister & Mann - it still surprises me how much water it needs and can take and how beautifully complex the scent is. It also lingers a bit after the shave (at least the perception of it) - which I enjoy imensly!

Brush: Rooney 3/1 Silvertip Badger
Razor: Merkur Barber Pole
Soap: Caties Bubbles Le Marche Du Rasage
Blade: Wilkinson Sword lames double trenchant (1)
Post Shave: @shavetheman balm

Quick two pass rushed shave today, work has been very hectic lately. Liked the after shave balm very much from Con.

Brush: Shavemac 177
Razor: Merkur progress long handle
Soap: Soap Commander Courage
Blade: Polsilver SI
Post Shave: Soap Commander Courage Balm.
Nice shave. I have the progress on the lowest setting as it can be a bit aggressive for me and being only five months into this way of shaving it can irritate me around the neck area on an aggressive setting. These balms are excellent first cooling then soothing the face. Nice scent on the soap commander courage reminds me of Chanel Bleu.

Single pass shave today with the GEM Jewel. A DFS without trying. I used a Treet Super blade today sent by @Nightguard when I purchased the Jewel. I'm quite impressed with it as a blade but being carbon steel there is a procedure to follow to extend the blade life. I need to be careful of the actual razor weight as pressure is really obvious with this razor as it has a tendency to shave much closer than you realise.
