That brush doesn't appear to match your description. Not that there's anything wrong with Simpson brushes... ;)

Rare that I would shave two days in a row but I wanted to give the new soap I made a run.
Really good. For soap makers on the forum I set the super fat to 10%. Great skin feel.
Razor: Ever ready "1914"
Brush: Synthetic.
Soap: Recent.

Cool!
The high SF didn't impact the lather at all?
Can I ask what you used for the SF?

It was a combination 5g/5g Shea butter/ Kokum butter. Total oils/fats 100g plus super fat.
The lather was not as "explosive" but far creamier and more protective. The hydroxide was 60/40 Potassium/Sodium.
The only issue making your own shaving soap is it takes so little time.
:) I do need to keep better records for myself, that is a whole different story.

If anyone wants to dip their toes in soap making, an MDC type clone is a good start.
55% Stearic Acid
45% Coconut Oil
up to 20% added Glycerine.

SoapCalc will help you determine hydroxide amounts.
Anyway if anyone is wanting help making shaving soap there are people on this forum who have experience.

Steve

Razor/Blade:- Blackbird Lite SB Polished / Vintage Gillette Spoiler #9

Had a few shaves with this Batters Up, all I can say is this and nothing else. Do NOT use this soap, IF, you're going out in PUBLIC!! Otherwise, you're going to end up scaring everybody to DEATH STINK!!
I'm going to hang to this soap until bloody winter seasons, hopefully, this STINK may tone a lot DOWN!! and IF it doesn't help in the winter season, straight into the bloody TRASH BIN!!

@Nanook how's you're STINK going with Batters Up?

A Rive Gauche themed shave and testing out the new toys :p

The Maestro Michè stick was cut from it's foil which was disintegrating and leaving bits on the stick. It has laundry soap + some Rive Gauche scent.
It does pair well with the RR American Barber AS.

Alpha Claymore head on a titanium Razorock handle on right side of face.
Ever Ready Featherweight for the left.
Both gave good shaves with the Alpha being slightly better. Mainly due to me learning the angles for the Gem razor.

I actually haven't used it yet as I've been looking for a leather scented aftershave to use with it.

I might try it over the weekend though to see what happens.

Great!
I will definitely try an increased SF but my next trial is going to be an 80% butter soap.
Yielding 58% stearic/palmitic and 33% oleic.

I'll stick with the 5% SF for this as I already have a feeling it's going to be very creamy/protective, even with the bit of coconut oil in the recipe.

Just make sure you’re wife wears a face mask, before, she gives you the 💩 and you may end up sleeping in the doghouse.

Make sure you only use the synthetic brush, otherwise, the stink may ruined your natural hair brush.

I think that's one of the reasons why I haven't used it yet.
