Yesterday 2/2/19:

Pre: hot shower
Brush: Razorock Big Bruce
Soap: TOBS Avocado cream tube
Razor: Rockwell 6s (2)
Blade: Gillette Vintage Spoiler (1)
Post: Proraso green after balm

This shave was again shit. The cream has an unusual scent that makes my nostrils burn just by sniffing the tube and for this reason it’s been shafted. I used a much larger dollop smeared on my face but it was just crap unfortunately. Not worth the pain to try to get it going.

The blade felt really nice for the first go, a few bits of blood but I am putting that down to the poor lather in this instance.

I felt like using the balm as a soothing agent for the cream ‘reaction’ and it was nice too.

Today 3/2/19

Second time using the Uncle Jon’s Tahitian Dream since buying it mid last year. Enjoyable scent but as the ingredients list says fragrance, I could start to feel my face burning up towards the end of the first pass. Nothing major and when the 2.5 pass shave was done, and rinsed well, no burn could be felt, but damn I felt a nice post shave before whacking on some Proraso splash.

The stuff lathered so well and had that gorgeous shiny lather porn look on the brush. No pic of that though today sorry.

The spoiler was smooth as silk with just a few small knicks on the usual trouble spots but this could be due to the R5 plate used today.

Give the Spoilers some time and they’ll fall in love with you like a

Rockwell R4 w/Gillette stainless (red)
Yaqi all metal tuxedo 24mm
AOS un-scented tallow
Gaia ASB

Used the Rockwell after a month of the Karve. Still a brilliant razor and one of my favorites! I actually really like the way the bulky, heavy head works for me.

Pulled out the AOS un-scented as I had a major migraine yesterday so avoiding all scents today.

The Yaqi all metal brush is amazing! Massive heft to this beast!! I actually ordered the entire set of Yaqi all metal brushes after experiencing one of them in my previous order and loved it!

Pre: Warm water, Crew oil
Razor: Rockwell 6S (4)
Blade: Kai
Bowl: Handmade bowl, Mk2
Brush: RazoRock Silvertip Synthetic
Soap: Meissner Mint Ice Menthol
Post: APR Festivus Splash

With some encouragement from @Kaeckerut (thanks for the soap & blades) I gave the Kai blade another go. Paired with the Rocky the shave was much better. I found the thickness of the Kai blade gave the shave a different feel and a noticeable increase in audio feedback. Two passes and touch up for a DFS.
The Meissner Mint Ice performed well, nice and slick. I would say similar to Fine Snake bite but with a pleasant light eucalyptus scent.
Have a good week gents.

First post of the year!
IMG-20190203-190729-01.jpg

My den is still mostly packed up as I am waiting for some shelving to be installed at the new house in the bathroom. I have been using a very good limited set every few days but I do miss the variety since the wedding... and thought others would too so didn't post here.

For those sitting on the fence with APR Florian EdP, I've worn it almost every day this year. It gets better and better and the new wife loves it. I'm now down to about 40%.

I confess to a touch of tardiness as this is officially my first shave for February 2019 and the Arko challenge and it was a beauty.

Arko. Great lather, load well on a less than moist brush and gradually worked water in for a top lather. Taken slowly with a generous amount of soap and the right amount of water produces a lather to be happy with.

My blade of choice tonight was a Japanese 6/8" square point "Rituki" from I believe the Tanifuji stable.
Cold water all the way single pass DFS and finished with Macadamia nut oil with Lemon myrtle.

I rate Arko extremely high with cold water and a straight razor.

My only concern is Arko my spoil me :)

Pre: hot shower
Brush: Razorock Big Bruce
Soap: Uncle Jon’s Tahitian Dream
Razor: Rockwell 6s (5)
Blade: Gillette Vintage Spoiler (3)
Post: AP Reserve Florian splash

Very little to shave off today so just 2 passes both against the grain.

Second shave with the squadron soap and have to say one of the smoothest, irritation free shaves to date. Wanted to test the post shave feel so used the proraso green splash, as it has no 'skin food' that i am aware of. I was amazed at the results, very happy with the soap.

Also back to R5 plate on the rockwell, R4 was a touch to mild

Pre: hot shower

Pre: Warm Shower, Truefitt & Hill Oil....
Razor: Karve 'D' Plate....
Blade: Gillette Rubie....
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger....
Soap: AP Reserve Bay City....
Post: AP Reserve Bay City Aftershave, Dior Sauvage EDP....

Shower
Merkur 1904
Personna Lab blue (3)
ARKO!
Omega 48
Proraso Green ASB

Had a few day's growth today and this combo worked a treat. I didn't find the Arko so drying today as I usually do - might be a summer thing but I also made sure it was well hydrated. It really is a good lather... I will have to give it another run to check. If it keeps this up it may find a permanent place for summer.

I can't believe how well this blade shaves in this razor when in every other razor I have it either cuts me or doesn't cut at all. Oh and my big boar knot today was just divine... I'm glad I persevered with it.

Pre-shave: Hot shower
Brush: Tony Forysth P&C LE Platypus shaving brush
Soap/Cream: The one, the only, ARKO! shaving soap
Razor: Vintage NEW head (replated) on TSW Bren handle
Blade: Personna 'Lab Blue' (1)
Post-shave: Mysrol Agua Balsamica aftershave splash
Fragrance: N/A

Nothing better after 24 hours or so travelling to get home and have a long shower and a decent shave. Of course, being ARKO! for the brave month this was with the world famous ARKO! shaving soap

So glad I changed flights to get home earlier and can now enjoy more ARKO! goodness
