Hey guys and gals,

FE here AKA Chris. Been shaving with a straight for about two to three years now and haven't looked back. Constantly trying to get converts into straight razor and DE shaving.

I use shavettes, DE and straights depending on the day. I also have a slew of shave creams and soaps, pre and post shave products and a really long shave ritual (which is super enjoyable).

Super excited to have a dedicated ANZ forum and sharing and learning tips, tricks and stories.

Warm regards,

FE (Chris)

Welcome @FedoraEnforcer
Hope your stay is long and fruitful :)
What equipment do you own ? ==->> (encourages pictures)
If you have not done so already, read the joining email you should of got, it will answer most questions new members have.

Hey FE - welcome to the joint. What's your favourite straight? Do you have any made in Oz str8's?

Welcome FE - bit worried about all these SR8 guys joining - we are being over-run!

Welcome mate. Keen to see your inventory, and what your favourites are.

Welcome and please share more about your equipment!

well what a reception! Deeply honoured by your words everyone! I'm still in my eyes a beginner and still have much to learn. I'm glad to be a part of something that is an old time skill that I feel is lost among the supermarket isles, especially with men I know my age (late 20's).

Anyway without further a do here is my high speed, low drag gear

the first image is of all my razors: (top to bottom first then left to right)

-circa early 1900's wade and butcher 6/8 (I think anyway) is def. W&B, a little pitted (last owner) but nice and heavy and you can feel the history in it
-Bengal - First razor I ever bought when I really had no idea what I was doing haha (got it in an antique store for $10
-Ford & Medley - no idea of the manufacturer but i bought it at the same time as the Bengal and it was CACTUS! So i am steadily bringing it back to life (anyone have any ice scales?)
-Dovo Shavette- My go to piece and what I use mostly. It's what I have learned the most on and it is a great shaver
-Generic Brand- this "Damascus" looking blade was a gift from my last employer. I havent used it yet as it is not shave ready... he got it for $99us on an online website (I do my research)
and on the bottom row I have my Parker silver tip brush (which is a dream) and a generic DE razor that does the job when I am super rushed for time (but will be replaced with a Merkur 33c pretty soon.

The rest of the images are close ups of the W&B and my first two

Lastly I also use many soaps and creams (right now using Crabtree and Evelyn) but my favourite combo is Proraso pre shave cream (the white one) and Colonel Conk bay rum.

Feel free to ask me any questions either via PM or otherwise, and I look forward to chatting with you all.

Warmest Regards,

FE

For some reason your pics are not working for me :(
Easily resolved via right click and view image though :)
Nice collection.
Could I interest you in a trade of some Col Conk Amber for something from your software collection ?
Where do you reside btw ?

Hi borked! Links fixed. I hope that is better.

I reside in Melbourne. Thanks for the compliments on the gear!

Also I would trade in a heartbeat if I had something to trade but alas the only stuff I have at the mo is the crabtree... when I start hoarding again (much to my GF's dismay) I'll make sure that I get enough to trade around when the next opportunity comes up.... hell.... ill even do a thread maybe

You'll enjoy the Travelling Box once it gets up and going. Plenty of chances to sample and try new gear without buying. (Although you'll feel compelled to buy once you try some of it! It's just you'll know it's great stuff. [emoji4])

@filobiblic is right btw.
Before the travelling box, I stored everything in a Gladstone bag.
Now it's used for frequently used items, with a box for blades, a box for soaps and creams, a box for pre/post shave and a box for razors/brushes.
We are quite apt at enabling here, so much so that fellow weaker members feel compelled to participate in sabbaticals, the poor souls.
I try and help them out by offering bargains and posting deals, as do other members, yet the scourge of the evil sabbatical spirit has them firmly within their grip.

well..... looks like im screwed then hahaha..... Travelling box come at me!.... or maybe a gladstone bag? so many things

There is something just soo right about storing vintage items in a vintage natural products item :)

Welcome FE,

Nice to have you in the ranks!

Haha watch out for that Borked - he's been itching to unload that Col. Conk for eons, personally I'd say a handful of gravel & a dead moth is a fair trade back for any Conk paperweights shaving soaps ;).

Look forward to chatting with you around the forums. (y)

Those Conk soaps are useless. Cannot even use them as a bath soap - they literally disappear after 2 showers.

Now I'm excited. @Mark1966 had some Conk Amber in the package I purchased from him. It is sitting in the cupboard still. After the glowing reports you blokes have given Conk's, I can't wait to try it (says he tongue in cheek). Thanks for the recommendations (or warnings).
