Blade Review: Personna Red (Platinum Chrome)

Having a fair bit of exposure to the knife sharpening community IMHO corking is pretty much as Drubbing says, good for nothing but blunting a blade - and hence maybe making it feel less sharp for some folks.

So thats a pretty flawed benefit as clearly the BEST soluton is to use something LESS SHARP (not like there's a lack of options out there on this one).

Corking does offer benefits to knife sharpeners as it is a good way to sometimes remove the burr that one can build on a blade when sharpening it. There is NO WAY in the world any DE blades are coming out with burrs on them - so really its of no benefit from this perspective.

Palming is just very shitty & imprecise stropping - hence with soft metals like DE blades one could conceivably 'roll/bend' the very tip of the blade.....but realistically as you've got next to no control over the angle and your hand isn't exactly flat you're going to do more harm than good. So again this is really one of those furfies thats a placebo benefit - as technically it just makes no sense.

Plus too much potential for a very nasty injury........so just reach for another blade IMHO. :)
