Hey everyone, been wet shaving for about 2 and a half years now after reading about it for a while and then impulse buying a badger brush and razor. Ive been accumulating a fair few soaps now (especially Barrister and Mann) and tbh I look forward to gathering some more!

Current set up
Razor - Parker Butteryfly Open DE (I think its the 86R?)
Brush - a silvertip badger
Soaps - a whole collection of stuff that I rotate around

Looking forward to interacting with all you guys!

Hi there and welcome @chingy17

What is your current favourite aftershave to use post-shave?

You're welcome to come and join the Sydney-siders late next month as we meet to share life, shaving products and more. It'll be Sunday 28 August from 2pm as this thread gives the details.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

I've amassed a good number of soaps so I've only very recently started looking into aftershaves, currently awaiting delivery of Summer breeze and Barbershop from Shaver Haven. I've been using the Barrister and Mann 42 splash - its great! Im open to an suggestions for aftershave splashes/balms you guys have :)

Im actually looking for a reasonably priced Plisson synthetic and also considering a Muhle R41, not sure if anyone has one they're willing to part with or any suggestions for where I can get one on a student budget

I'd love to catch up in Sydney but I am in Albury finishing off my degree; hopefully back in Sydney in 2018.

Welcome to the forum @chingy17, what is your current favourite soap from B+M ?

Again everyone, thanks for the warm welcome! I've been a lurker for a little while and will certainly be checking out the BST forums as well as the review forums of the site (maybe even adding some of my own reviews).

In chilly Albury @chingy17 !

WOW, Canberra doesn't feel so cold now :)

At least you have a local B&M barber there - https://www.facebook.com/The-Perfect-Shave-400819140114403/

Hahaha the sun came out today, so I was able to take my bike out for a spin after a terrible month of grey and rain.

Welcome to the forum @chingy17, what is your current favourite soap from B+M ?

I've had the pleasure of trying/"accidentally" buying A LOT of B&M soaps. Its really difficult to single out one as being my favourite because they are all really different from each other and have totally different scent profiles. That being said I do enjoy using (in no particular order);
1) Solarion - a really great light citrus, earthy scent. Had me hooked as soon I smelt the puck.
2) Seville - My first experience with the barbershop genre and wow it just smells so fresh and clean, love it.
3) Arctique - Oh man, the chill is so real. Can't wait to get onto this in summer. Considering going for the splash as well.
4) Cheshire - An amazing mimic of Earl Grey.

Just one more thing, if anyone knows how to remove the email notifications from this forum that would be great. My poor inbox couldnt handle all the replies to this thread :unsure:

Welcome @chingy17 - I am sure you will have a great time here (y)

Top right hand corner next to Inbox is your user name. Click on it and select alert preferences and change what you get emails for (I think)

Try this link - http://paste-and-cut.com.au/community/account/alert-preferences if that is not clear

Close @Mark1966, as close as one of your BBS shaves from your extensive Gillettes....

I had the same problem when I joined recently and turning the email notifications off was a little tricky (PITA), as the board notifications are really useful.

To turn Email notifications OFF
@chingy17

First go to Browsing Preferences

The Tab you want has the heading of "Browsing Preferences"

Just below Timezone with your location there is an "Options" header greyed out the second option is the one you want
Untick email notification :

  • Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply...
    • and receive email notifications of replies
This way you will get board notifications when you are online, but your inbox won't be bombarded.
