The general watch talk discussion

7A28-7009 is the reference and is a colab between seiko and Giugiaro, it is affectionately called the “Ripley” after Sigourney Weaver’s character in aliens who wore it on screen.
Really cool if you are a sci-fi dude or a car dude for Giugiaro factor. Worth a Mint now as they are a bit tricky to find in good shape but they are a really cool and unique racing chronograph once it’s all said and done.
Thanks @Ferret619, great info. I'd never sell as it was a gift from my dad but great to know it's such a unique an iconic watch. I think it's time I gave it some love

It’s a great watch, sizing the bracelet is… different but works great and honestly it’s just such an 80s watch and for aliens fans its a grail.

Waiting on the postie to bring me this Sinn.
In my zeal for a more minimalist life I have sold off a ton of gear and now will be down to this, my alpinist and a gshock.

Simple, elegant, nice

hey, where is the best place to sell some watches. I am thinking of downsizing my collection.
PM ya boy Dave ;)

But actually I have had really good success with gumtree of all places.

Congrats - I have always appreciated the Sinn designs; have one on my wrist now, actually.
I was sleeping on them for ages then it just clicked for me-

Yeah gotta love the swatch group. I was just wondering if it was an older model with the eta?
Nah 2020 build:
I’m not sure that the additional jewel under the barrel arbor on the sellita makes any real difference

Agree - they are a watch that, once on your wrist, you just don’t want to take off. A sure sign of good design.

Sinn use ETA movements

Wait for a Rolex Submariner. Worth it!

Sinn switched to Sellita when Swatch Group reduced supply to outsiders.

And you'd probably be waiting years to get a new Sub (and that is if you have an "in" with authorised dealers), or pay up to double on grey market prices. Rolex complains about reseller inflated prices but does nothing to fix supply.

Could always get a MKII Kingston.
