I was picking some fresh basil in the garden the other day and thought the scent from the fresh herb was intoxicating and made me want to do a shave soap that included basil again. I've also wanted to do something with Myrrh for a while so the combination set me down the path.

Ingredients: Stearic Acid, Tallow (Beef), Tamanu Oil, Avocado Oil, Hemp Oil, Kokum Butter, Lanolin Wax, Shea Butter, Glycerine, Tussah Silk, Brazilian Purple Clay, Sodium Lactate, KOH, NaOH, Filtered Water (RO), and essential oils.
Essential Oils: Basil, Lemon, Lime, Geranium, Juniper, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Myrrh and Copaiba.

The base is related to Pb Bay Thyme as I was keen to include Tamanu in this base and turned out to be quite a soft paste which lathers similarly to Pb Nettle & Neem and Barrister's Reserve Spice. The lather initially forms a stringy emulsion then transitions to a whipped cream consistency. The Brazilian Purple Clay colours the soap and also gives the lather a faint purple hue. The lather shaved well providing good protection and slickness.

The scent lives up to the name like an old purple filigreed cloak. The myrrh provides the age, mystery and earthiness in the background with some liveliness provided by the basil and citrus. The geranium lends some sweetness and colour (scentwise). I find it a hard scent to describe. It's old school, subtle but with presence, not captivating but alluring with a slight aniseed air.

Like a new pair of shoes I'll need to wear it a bit to see how we get along. The ideas I wanted are there but speak a little differently which I knew would be the case somewhat due to the Tamanu & Hemp base.

What a very unique scent profile!
I can just imagine how beautiful this scent would be!

Thanks Nav.
The scent is not dissimilar to Ub63 but Myrrlin is more subtle/mysterious in the way it presents whereas Ub63 is more up front/honest.
