Got the Rockwell 6S today from @Nightguard. First impressions are nice. It's really heavy compared to the two razors I have in my artillery. Will give it a go on Saturday night or Sunday morning. Looking forward to it!

Thanks to Mark's posts in the vintage thread I grabbed this specimen.

Seems relatively clean & in good nick to me. Obviously will want to clean it properly (further research required) & then put it through it's paces.

The first thing that jumps out is how heavy it feels in the hand! Talk about weight. Will certainly test the 'no pressure' mantra.

Anything to keep in mind with these sorts of razors?

Ubersoft V2 24mm knot set in a Tyrion jungle moss handle.

Honestly, smaller than I expected. But the tips are soft. Oh Yea, I mean soft.

Yes! The handle is very well made. I'm a bit sceptical about the size of the knot. Despite being a 24mm, it sure feels small in my hands. Maybe I am used to the badgers, where the bloom makes it look bigger. Will give it a crack either tonight's late night test lather or tomorrow's shave.

As for size - don't forget the the area of a circle is r^2 * pi - so while the area of a 24mm circle is ~1808mm2, the area of a 26mm circle is 2122mm2 (roughly 15% difference and not 7%) and then going up to your 28mm Chubby 2 - area would be 2462mm2 (~25% difference to your 24mm).

Now if you factor in the loft and calculate the total (free) volume of your knot, you realise that 4mm difference in knot diameter makes a brush substantially larger.

Not saying this is good or bad - if will most definitely give you enough lather for your shave - it is just a big difference

Yea I think the bristles are really tightly packed and focused, doesn't branch out as much. Will give it a go tonight! All good.

Hi Guys
As most of you know I scored this cruddy old Gillette Fat Boy the other day so dirty only till about 3 hours ago did I know what year and quarter it was it is a 1960 F4 & I have applied my TLC to it which is how I arrived at the following Before & After. Now mechanically it's spot on did not even need me to adjust it's blade gap settings there is a tiny bit of brassing on one of the blade doors not overly noiticeable

Consider releasing the blade tension before adjusting the blade setting.
