Hey everyone,

New to the forum, about two years into my wet shaving 'journey'.... Not exactly sure why I said journey....all the crappy contestants on reality shows seem to use it these days.

I got a few mates from work into wet shaving over the last year, and during one of our regular chats about razor stuff, I was told about this forum. Nice to finally find somewhere for us shavers not in the 'CONUS' to get together.

Anyway, as the title says, I'm from Radelaide, and have the early symptoms of razor acquisition disorder ;-)

Cheers,

Hey there @SchoolForAnts - welcome, welcome!

I think we need a new aftershave made called "Derelict". [emoji4]

Early symptoms eh? You need to nip it in the bud early otherwise you'll end up like poor ole @Mark1966 who doesn't have enough space in his house for all his razors so he had them filling a garage.

What's your favourite of all your current razors? Are you a collector or do you use them?

haha 'Derelict' with the slogan -'it's so hot right now'.

I use them all filobiblic - mint in box is nice, but I'm even happier to have a nice user-grade razor to enjoy. I seem to go through phases as to what I enjoy, at the moment I'm using a 60's Superspeed Flare tip. I don't have a massive collection just yet, but I can see the signs of RAD - searching through every bric-a-brac, antique and second hand store between Adelaide and the Barossa, trawling through Gumtree, searching eBay, trying to find something DE shaving related at a decent price.

Been there didn't really find anything. All cleaned out long ago.

Welcome and good to have a fellow Adelaidian rep on here. That makes about 3 of us now.

...

Brilliant!

A wet-shaving reality show. What shall we call it?

I can see it now, each week a new soap challenge - can you get a decent lather out of THAT will be the catchphrase

A mystery soap challenge - you will need to identify the soap AND the brush based solely on the lather

Of course if you get a crappy result it is off to the elimination round, 5 minutes, 2 passes, the worst shave goes home.

The winner each week goes up against a honemeister in the ultimate challenge - 10 minutes to hone a rusty old blade and get yourself a great shave. Beat the honemeister and get yourself immunity.

At the end of each episode the scruffiest character goes home with that immortal phrase ringing in their ears - the barbers have spoken.

Second season we introduce chicks into the format so it doesn't get stale - then the fun really starts!!!!!

Oh why didn't we think of this sooner ....

Tell me about it - only thing I found (not excessively overpriced) was a 50's Tech at a shop in Munno Para.

Heya @SchoolForAnts and welcome :)
Hope your stay is long and fruitful.
Say, how is the weather down at sleepingwithyourdadelaide, hope it's not miserable and leaving you sadelaide.
Some get madelaide when their turf is the brunt of a bit of light hearted fun, yet most that survive the initiation don't and even return serve :)

Got a fave soap/croap/cream yet ?
What about blades ?

@Mark1966 you forgot the super secret immunity challenge.
Any contestant that manages to obtain a NIB quad ringed bottom dial titanium toggle on eBay for under $100, obtains automatic entry into the finals ;)
Anyhow, first challenge surely is to lather up Col Conk with face application and hand alone.

Welcome @SchoolForAnts - another reason why all the shops here are dry :)

Hahaha.

My everyday blade is the Gillette 7 O'clock Sharp Edge, but I'm still trying out different blades as the guys at work and myself buy random stuff and swap to try out. I'm not blown away by the performance of the Sharp Edge, I just guess it's a place-holder till I find something I really like.

As for fave soap - my fave is the Mitchells Wool Fat, followed closely at the moment by HTGAM Bay Rum. Usually followed up with DR Harris Sandalwood aftershave.

Yeah you will fit in :)

What blades have you tried thus far ?

You guys should really look into @Occams and @Anthony and their products :)
Both are Aussie artisans and come with lofty praise from members here.
If looking overseas, we've also got you covered with @Gifts&Care.com @Barrister & Mann as members and probably others I've forgotten too.

The usual suspects mainly - various Astras, Gillette (Sharp Edge and Super Stainless), Personna Red, Derby, Feather, Merkurs (bloody awful). Then lately some random stuff - Bic, Shark, Lord, Rapira, Sputnik, Voshkod. Enjoying giving them all test drive.

Always keen to support Aussie stuff - so I'll look into @Occams and @Anthony gear. Cheers!

Current production blades, I'd suggest trying Polsilver and others will whine if you fail to consider Permasharp's.
A bit like Semogue v Omega boar brushes and ARKO!!! (which is a must try btw).

The ARKO stick @borked ?

Welcome SchoolForAnts

Please be aware that instead of paying good money for that stick of Turkish notoriety you can actually just visit your local public toilets, and swipe a cake out of the urinal.

Granted, the lather might not be as good, but the scent will be spot on.

Sad little shaving person - you buy 8000 samples which you decide to on sell yet put crap on one of the worlds great latherers - the mighty ARKO!!!!
